Introducing our newest Attitude presenter

Phil. AKA: Dr Phil, The Philosophers Stone, Free RePhils, No Philter, Philopian Tubes, Philosoraptor

It can be a crazy experience joining the Attitude team. Phil documented his experience in this video of Phil’s first days

We asked him a few probing questions to get his point of view of what it’s like to be the new guy.

How did you get a job with Attitude?

I got the job with Attitude by applying for it! I am pretty stoked on communication and young people so maybe that’s why.

What was your first impression of the Attitude team?

My first impression of the team was that they were fun and intense (as in like full on energy and enthusiasm for the job) – and really good at what they did. In Auckland my first impression was that they all wore shoes.

What’s the scariest thing about being an Attitude presenter?

Scariest thing atm would be just how much work it’s going to take to get good. I’m not used to doing things I’m not already awesome at so I actually feel semi-intimidated or something!? Argh! Crazy.

What school are you most excited about visiting?

Actual Darfield High!! #hometown

What advice would you give your Year 9 self?

Don’t be the kid with the shortest shorts. And… I would tell my year nine self to stop giving a crap what 95% of my friends thought and to focus way more on just being myself and doing things I actually enjoyed, rather than just doing what all my dumb friends liked. And I would just say be way more confident! You’re actually way more awesome than you realise! So just chill out and have more fun.

Tell us your thoughts on the South Island Attitude team

Person you’d be most comfortable top-and-tailing with? Christian

The friendliest ? Zara

Most likely to kick kids out of a talk? James

Most likely to have been that kid who eats dry noodles for lunch? Christian

What is the most interesting insight into the team that not everyone would know?

It’s actually amazing just how many students and schools we cover between like 12 of us  – like over 90% of high schools nationwide just seems crazy!

Who’s going to be the last one to get married?

I’m definitely the last one to get married aye…. I peaked too early. Like 6 different chicks wanted to marry me in year 7. Lolz. It’s true.
