Full Name: James Cameron Beck
What do you do in Attitude: Attitude presenter
Background: After winning the Hunger Games at the age of 17, James Beck knew there were big things awaiting him in his future. But his skill with an obsolete, medieval weapon did not create the job opportunities he once dreamed it would.
After much grief and soul searching, James realised that his life stories and experience might help young people to make better choices about their future.
In the last 6 years James has spoken in all sorts of places, including Easter Camp, Youth Prisons and his grandmas retirement village. He has spoken to over 100,000 young people all over New Zealand and is obviously changing lives. Here is some recent feedback from one of his talks: “I wish you had talked a bit louder, here have a biscuit” – Some old lady named Agnus.
Things I like: Playing in unsuccessful bands, soup (especially on Christmas day), and the smell of petrol stations
Things I don’t like: Playing in unsuccessful bands, negative people and negative people who play in unsuccessful bands
Most embarrassing story: In year 10 I had to talk in an assembly in front of the whole school. I walked up to the mic, and when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a massive voice break.
