Being me promo

Being MeThis student resource is designed to help teachers make the most of their available time to teach health. Its flexible format allows teachers to either explore concept’s in depth (with the help of model lesson plans and supporting resources), or to jump in and out of topics when an opportunity arises.

It covers four important topics facing young people during adolescents; Friendships, Identity, Puberty and Technology. Each topic contains 10 pages of writing, activities, stories, quotes, and activities to do at home with parents. It is designed to be used over two years.

Attitude has had over 16 years experience developing resources for the New Zealand health curriculum. ‘Being Me’ embodies the ‘Attitude’ style by using humour, engaging photography and design, and relevant and contemporary content.

Curriculum alignment

Attitude works with many teachers to ensure that our programme aligns with Levels 3 and 4 of the health and physical education learning area of the New Zealand curriculum. Teachers are provided with documents that outlines achievement objectives and learning intentions for each topic.

We also employ Cognition Education to guide our programme development. This included a three month inquiry surveying 448 parents, 126 teachers and several focus groups with students. Survey results have influenced the programme structure, content and priorities.
